Zenda Community Garden Guidelines

Important information: Gardeners need to understand and respect the following guidelines below. Failure to do so could jeopardize your standing as a gardener at the Zenda Community Garden.

  • Gardeners are required to volunteer 1 hour each week which is spent working the garden. Task will vary from week-to-week depending on garden committee decisions.
  • Parents and/or accompanying adults are responsible for children. Teach your children the gardening rules, especially to respect the garden itself and the water system.
  • Garden tools will be provided by the Zenda Community Garden. Return tool to equipment storage building where they can be found by the next gardener.
  • All paths are to be kept free of trash, rocks, weeds or anything that may interfere with the mowing or trimming equipment.
  • Please keep compost area picked up, weeded and neat. COMPOST IS FOR ZENDA GARDENERS ONLY.
  • Water must not be wasted. Turn off water after using it. Fix hose leaks with provided mending material and notify the appropriate garden committee.
  • Never use any chemical herbicides (weed killers)!
  • Gardeners are encouraged to employ their own organic pest control methods when needed. Synthetic pesticides and fertilizers are strictly prohibited.
  • Dogs and other pets are not allowed within the garden area. Dogs and other pets are allowed on and/or off leash on the Zenda Farm Preserve Property.
  • All gardeners must re-apply to participate in the Zenda Community Garden each year.
