Is there a group training now that I could join up with? Also, can we wear a
wet suit, fins, or snorkel?
I’m still looking for a team runner….?
Biking to Tibbetts Lighthouse this week!! Come along!
Yes, race day registrations will be accepted. Registration on race day will begin at 7am and will end at 8am. The costs are higher for registrations received after August 14: $40 per person for Ironperson and $30 per person for teams.
In regards to the “wet suit, fins, etc. are allowed” comment, at the time we were encouraging all skill levels because frankly at the initial stage of registration it was unclear how much enrollment would occur. We did not want to exclude anyone. Since then, we have had to determine that we WE WILL NOT allow fins, but if a participant absolutely has to wear a mask/snorkel, so be it. However, for the average competitive triathlete, this equipment would not even be considered–therefore, we did not consider it an issue for most.
Will there be food and vendors at the event to spend money on stuff, and is there any chance it will be sold out? I’m planning to register the morning of…
Just googled what TIYLO stands for… that’s awesome! Good sounding organization!
There will be food available at the event and there are many local shops and businesses that will be open. Day of registration is available from 7-8am on race day, with registration fees increasing after 8/14/10. Please refer to the race brochure for more details.
Planning on doing the Caz Tri this weekend, and just signed up for the River Rat! Looking forward to coming up to Clayton and participating in the first (of many more to come)!
oh, another question……. where will there be parking available for the event? I’ll be coming up from syracuse and am not familiar with the area. thanks.
Please park at the Community Parking Lot behind Watertown Savings Bank on James Street in the Village. The transition/registration area is very close by. Overflow parking will be at the corner of Riverside Drive and Webb Street in the large parking lot located there.
Because you changed your original idea ‘to encourage all skill levels’! “Since then, we have had to determine that we WE WILL NOT allow fins”.
I don’t think there will be many 58 year old women complaining that I swim with fins in the St. Lawrence River. I’ve only been practicing with fins. What do you want me to do? Will diving booties be allowed so I don’t have to walk on the river bottom? If we can’t come to some agreement about swim fins. I will have to switch to Kayaking which I haven’t been practicing. Do I need to bring my kayak over from TIP. I don’t know how long it would take me to paddle to Clayton?? Can I leave my bike there on Sat after I practice the course. Did you change the route from July?
I just want to finish your triathlon! I didn’t want to be in Clayton participating all day long… Isn’t this supposed to be fun and to improve health and fitness? This is my first triathlon since my knee replacement surgery. I want to prove that I can still do some of the things I used to do. I cannot run at all and will walk the 5K with trekking poles. I hope your ready for all adaptions that help me participate!

Wet suits, fins, etc. are allowed.
This is a triathlon right? So wetsuits yes, but mask, fins and snorkel, you were joking right?

sorry for the re-post, but i figured this question might be better suited for the main page than the course map page…..
what is the water temperature up there? Trying to determine if a wetsuit is necessary or not…. Thanks!
No one has water temperature info???
I was out on the river today and the water seemed to be in the 70-71 degree range. It could be warmer I in shallow areas.
